Consume the Eternal

Consume the Eternal
By Keenan Fisher

I cracked open a study that I did for youth group about a year ago. It was about living as the temple of the Holy Spirit. Anyway, as I was reviewing it and thinking on the principles, God gave me something else: Everything that functions, functions by way of metabolism.

People and animals, with food and water.
Machines, with fuel and oils.
Plants with water and glucose.
But once a source is used up, another source is needed. Therefore since we, being spirits, are eternal; we must consume that which is eternal and never depleting and ever powerful. We can't rely on even the good things of this world to sustain us because they were never meant to.

That's why many believers never grow and why many nonbelievers are so depressed. We can never satisfy an appetite for eternity with temporary things and fleeting moments.

John 4:13-14
•Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

Deut. 8:3
•So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.

Galatians 5:24-25
•And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Pray this with me today!
"Father, I thank you for your Word; that it is good and nourishing to my spirit, that it brings healing to my body and refreshment to my bones. I ask that you strengthen my appetite for you and I thank you that when I read your Word, I am satisfied in my spirit and eternally sustained. In Jesus name Amen."
