Think On These Things

Weekly Faith Fuel - Think on these things!
Philippians 4:8-9 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you."
These days, there are thousands of voices competing for our attention. It can be social media, the news, friends, coworkers, advertisement mediums, and more. There are countless things pulling at you saying "look at me! Keep me on your mind!" But in every aspect of this (spiritual, psychological, etc.), it is woefully unhealthy. Sadly, most things you will find on any kind of media (including from your own friends!) is full of negativity, strife, and sometimes just plain evil. You will slowly kill yourself by dwelling on these things. It's painfully obvious if you observe the people in this world who already do. A lot of people wonder why people are so depressed today, but it's really not hard to understand. So what's the solution? Well, the Word is our solution, and our text today is a great one.
Instead of a confession, this time I have an exercise. Take a couple of minutes and do this. Next time you're feeling down, if you're feeling depressed or helpless, do this:
Name one thing that's true (based on the Word).
Name something else that is honest.
Name something else that is just.
Name something else that is pure.
Name something else that is lovely.
Name something else that is of good report.
Name something else that has virtue.
Name something else that is worthy of praise.
When you name all those things, think about them instead of what the world is trying to feed you. When you do this, peace will be with you.
Bless you, and have a great week!
