COMPASSION  PROJECT

Bring Home The Flores Babies

Nathan and Anna Flores have been actively serving Compass Church since 2021 as Youth Pastors, Children's Pastors, Administrative Assistants, Social Media Coordinators, Usher Team Leaders and Co-op Teachers. Compass Church simply could not operate without their dedicated service!

In September 2023, Anna and Nathan found out that they were expecting their first baby. Excitedly, they began the process of planning for their coming new addition.
A great surprise came in November when, during a routine ultrasound visit, they discovered that they were actually expecting TWINS!
Not long after the twin surprise, they were informed about a critical condition with the babies that required them to travel to Houston for an urgent surgical procedure. The procedure was considered a success and they returned to Alabama for recovery.
A week after the surgery, more testing revealed that there were other concerns with the babies that needed to be closely monitored.
After several back-and-forth appointments to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, the decision was made by the medical team that Anna would be admitted to the hospital for the duration of the pregnancy.
After a month of strict monitoring, the day finally came when the doctors decided
the babies needed to be taken out. So a c-section was scheduled.
On March 14, 2024 at 3:26 and 3:28pm, at only 27 weeks gestation,
babies Koen Lee and Hatchett Ray came into the world.
They weighed 2lb 4oz and 1lb 7oz respectively.

What does this mean for the Flores Family now?

The babies will be in the NICU for several months.
Anna will stay continually at the Ronald McDonald House near Children's Hospital for the duration.
Nathan will travel back and forth, working in Auburn during the week and staying in Birmingham on weekends.
It's going to be a long haul... but
Nathan and Anna's response to this... "Our God is faithful to His Word and He will not fail!!"

WHAT'S NEXT?

As you might conclude, all the aforementioned comes with a hefty price tag.
Nathan and Anna have already incurred several thousand dollars in medical expenses and several thousand more are certain to come.
In addition, the expenses for Nathan and others to travel to UAB several times a week will stack up quickly.
(Gasoline, parking fees and food)
A family member will be staying with Anna at all times.

*Here's how we can partner with them with assistance*
We have set in place a special COMPASSion Fund to assist the Flores Family with these needs.
DONATIONS ARE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE
Our hope is to cover all added expenses through generous gifts of support.

Anna and Nathan are both committed to continue working their regular jobs throughout this whole process.
(Anna has her laptop and is working directly from the hospital room)
But... what a wonderful gift it will be for them to know that the added expenses
will not be a burden for them after the babies are here!

Let' show Nathan and Anna how much we love and appreciate their service to God's church and their friendship to so many of us!
