The Small Voice

Weekly Faith Fuel -- The Small Voice
1 Kings 19:11-12 KJV "And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice."
Human beings love to be wowed. We are naturally drawn to things that are startling and abnormal. However, when it comes to spiritual things, this can be very dangerous. Now, don't get me wrong, the glory of the Lord is a powerful, wondrous thing. But if you come across a phenomenon that is not mentioned in the Bible as being of God, it is from a wrong spirit. This can be applied to a variety of scenarios, but I want to talk about something specific this time.
Lately, there has been an epidemic (one might say...a pandemic) of "Facebook prophets". It seems like every day someone new has had a "dream" or heard "a voice" and gone semi-viral on social media. This is straight-up dangerous. First of all, nowhere in the New Testament does it say that God will lead and direct us through dreams; it's not Biblical. Secondly, the common factor between all these "dreams" is fear, danger, and dread. This is the opposite of what the gift of prophecy does! You might say "Well, they said they are in the office of a prophet," but are they really??? Where's their credibility? What are their credentials? What's there ministry track-record? If it's just some rando saying, "I had a realistic dream so it must be a message from God," I can almost guarantee that it's not. Just because a dream gives someone strong emotions and concerns current events doesn't mean it's some "divine message". It probably means they ate some bad pizza last night.
God is always spectacular, but the spectacular is not always God. God leads us by the still small voice, period, full stop. Stop listening to all these "prophets" and their dreams on social media and start getting into the real message from God, the Bible.
Make this confession: "I know the leading of God. I also know how to discern what is right, in Jesus' name. If I hear something that is wrong, I recognize it right away!"
Bless you, and have a great week!
