The Mirror

Weekly Faith Fuel - The Mirror
James 1:23-24 “For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was."
In this passage of scripture, the Word is compared to a mirror, and the reader to the person looking in that mirror. Now, a mirror does a few things. It reflects the person, and it shows the person who they are. But this verse is specifically referring to one aspect of a mirror's purpose: to show the person what needs to change.
When you wake up in the morning, why do you go to the bathroom and look in the mirror? To see if your hair is in a mess! You might look in it again later to see if your clothes look good and aren't wrinkled. The mirror is there to let you know if anything needs to change. The Word does the same thing to your life. When you read the Bible, one thing you should be aware of is if anything in your life goes against what the Bible instructs. This is what needs to change! You certainly wouldn't go out in public with your hair in a mess and with mismatched and wrinkled clothes, so why would you continue on in life with equivalent spiritual problems?
God's expectations for us are not unreasonable. He would never ask you to do something that you can't do. When you read the Word, let it show you what you need to work on. Doing that brings you closer and closer to your Heavenly Father, and allows His blessing to flow more in your life!
Make this confession: "When I read the Word, I receive revelation on what to change! My life is centered around the Lord and His will, in Jesus's name!"
Bless you, and have a great week!
