Boldness!

BOLDNESS!!
By Anna Isbell

Boldness: "willingness to take risks and act innovatively; confidence or courage."

The other day was my mom's birthday! Our whole family decided to pitch in and get her a beautiful indoor fireplace that she had been wanting for her living room. So my husband and I went to pick it up so we could put it together in advance. We, being the overly optimistic people that we are, and sure that it would fit into our Nissan Altima, confidently purchased the fireplace and rolled it out to our car.
We slid it in long ways into the trunk only to find out -"shocker"- it didn't fit.
After about 20 minutes of finessing by my husband, all our optimism of getting the fireplace home was long gone. Just then a lady came out of the store to get into her car. She was parked right next to us so there was no way for her to miss our situation. We made a few jokes about trying to get it home then she got into her car and started the engine.
While we continued to search for a solution to our dilemma, the lady got back out of her car and asked if it would be okay for her to pray with us over our situation. Of course, we did not refuse!
So, standing in the Lowe's parking lot, we closed our eyes as this total stranger prayed for us to be able to get this fireplace home and enjoy it.
It was a short prayer, nothing long or dramatic, but exactly what we needed to hear. When she was done, she jumped into her car and drove away.
We were filled with new confidence to be able to get this fireplace into the car!
Miraculously we suddenly found the perfect way to fit the gift into our tiny Altima and get it home frustration-free!

I kept finding myself reflecting on what had happened and how this woman had gone out of her way to make our day a little better, and to put her faith out there for us.
She had no idea who we were, if we were believers or how we might respond. But she asked if we wanted prayer anyway. She didn't care!

She was being bold!

I think that is the kind of boldness that Jesus wants to see from every believer.

Joshua 1:9 says
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

There is no place we can go where God won't be right there with us. No situation we can ever find ourselves in where He is not there. God has commanded us to be brave! To be strong! To not be afraid of anything!

So my challenge for myself and for you is this; every day find one thing you can step out of your comfort zone and do. You don't have to start big! Start with something simple like an encouraging word to a coworker, or an act of kindness to a stranger. Find one thing a day you can do to be BOLD for the Lord.
Because once you decide to be bold, the Lord will be able to use you in mighty ways to build up His kingdom!

BOLDNESS: "The willingness to take risks and act innovatively; confidence or courage."

Prayer:
"Dear heavenly Father,
I thank you for giving me the courage and strength to step out of my comfort zone every day and do things for you. I thank you that no matter where I go in this world you will always be right by my side. Lord help me to grow in boldness more and more every day and help me to be aware of the things you need me to do. I promise today that I will keep myself ready in season and out of season, to be used by you. I pray for all these things in your Son's name, Jesus, Amen."
